Weather Update: TYPHOON LAWIN ENTERS PAR, THREATENS NORTHERN LUZON

Please be advised that the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has recently released a weather update that the typhoon with international name “Haima” (local name “Lawin”) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), threatening to bring inclement weather to Northern Luzon this week.

At 4:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon "Lawin" was located based on all available data at 535 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (16.1ºN, 127.1ºE) with maximum sustained winds of up to 205 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 255 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 26 kph.

Stormy weather with rough to very rough seas is expected over the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte and Aurora. Rains and gusty winds with moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the rest of Central Luzon and Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the Southwest to West over the rest of the country. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
